WHAT DOES SAMSAFT DO?
We SAMSAFT provide consultations that are relevant to the services that we provide, thus to the food processing industries; such that they can produce their food – free of of metal fragments. Which services are training on HACCP System to staff members involved in handling magnet equipment. More so, we also do validation on magnetic equipment, calibration on metal detectors as well as Gaussmeters. In which case our services are done at the stage of pre-audit, hence in preparation of the solo audit which conducted by the relavent authority.
You herein then understand that we are not auditors.
WHAT DOES THE LEGISLATION SAY ABOUT FOOD SAFETY AND METAL?
No owner of a food handling enterprise as specified in column 2 of Annex A is allowed to handle food without-
(a) a HACCP system fully implemented to the satisfaction of the relevant authorised health authority in relation to the foodstuffs under consideration, on or after the date specified in column 3 of Annex B as applicable to such a food handling enterprise; and
(b) a valid certificate referred to in regulation 14.
The external HACCP auditing must be carried out by a person suitably qualified and experienced in the application of the HACCP system and who is employed by a certifying body that is accredited by SANAS.
